I am a former member at Westhaven GC and my comments on the course are that the greens are always in bad shape with dead patches, the management is unprofessional, and even from the longest tees the course is very easy. The positives are its doglegs and water hazards making for a somewhat challenging but playable round. There are a few reachable par 4s from the mens tees too, for the occasional birdie or eagle. It is a fun course that would be good for a beginer that may take their fair share of divots. A quality course in the area is lakeshore golf course because of its pristene condition in the late summer, early fall and quality golf. The back nine is nice and short for the junior or adult looking for that low round. While the front nine is longer, both par fives are reachable in 2 shots. Their signature hole, the 9th, is much better than the local competitions par threes because of its proximity to the scenic lake buttedesmortes and its difficulty to par if the green is not reached in GIR. The course is great fun and the staff is friendly. The club pro is an excellent teacher and the establishment is very accomodating to children for they understand the value of securing future lifelong business with the kids and customers, unlike the other area pulic courses. All in all, both Westhaven and Lakeshore will give you your money's worth. Lakeshore just has the edge in overall quality and beauty (at lakeshore you look at a lake, at westhaven you look at condos, the road, and the driving range.) Good luck in Your Round!
