Played this course January 20, 2014: Amenities - The amenities were great. Free range balls and this is the firs course I have ever played where the course guide was given to you. Nice touch since I had never played this course before.Difficulty - This course will make you think about location for your next shot. driver vs. Fairway Metal vs. iron off the tee was definatley a factor and just one of the things you need to think about here.Maintenance - Based on the fact that this was January, course was definately in outstanding shape.Scenery - Gave it 4 stars; however, it was January and not much to see. Definately can tell that this course is beautiful in the spring months.Value - Played this course for $45.00 on a holiday so it was about average.Overall - The course was nice, staff friendly and service was good. My friends that used the restaraunt thought the value was good. One of them got a Turkey Sandwich. It came with chips and a drink for $7.00. Not to bad.Definatley will play here again later this year in season.
Played 24-Oct-2010. I have played this course at least once a year since 1997 and believe that, while Augustine is the best design in all of the Greater Washington, DC area, it currently is in the worst (or nearly worst) shape of all courses in the area. Let's hope that the full beautification effort is seen to completion.
Never had a chance to play here when the conditions were good. You can see the potential there though, it's a fun layout. It's just too bad though that they have let things go there so much. On the plus side, range balls are included and management seems to know that the word is out about the conditions so it's pretty easy to find discounted rounds which make it worth giving the course a try.
This course is the WORST course in the area right now. The clubhouse is very nice, staff is nice, but you go to PLAY GOLF on a NICE course! Especially for upwards of 35-45 bucks! I wouldn't pay these guys 20 bucks to play their course again. Literally. The ONLY good thing about the course was the sand. Most of the traps had just been refilled with nice, soft, white sand. The fairways were nasty, bare, just dirt patches and diseased. The greens were just dirt, mud, and spots of grass. There are literally rectangular pieces of turf "puzzled" into some greens to cover up spots. Good idea, but the seams were open, not flat, NOT MAINTAINED! Take the advice of the reviews and put your money into a nicer course, that would be ANY COURSE, in the area. Forrest Greens, Gauntlet, Lee's Hill, Meadows are all WAAAAAY above this place right now, and it will be YEARS before they fix it up right.
VERY poor conditioning and overpriced even at the reduced rates.Stay AWAY until they finish their "beautification"
Played there last weekend... the place was awful! Used to be such a great course, turned hideous...Not even worth your time to play at a place where the owners obviously do not care about the condition of the course... I feel bad for the members...
The course setup is awesome, fantastic design. The upkeep is horrible, they have a serious weed problem, bunkers need help, and tees are in bad shape, the greens though are perfect. It is worthy of the weekday price, not the weekend.
New owners also own Hells Point in VA Beach are hesitant to invest in proper maintenance. Hence this nice layout will soon be a dog track. Very overpriced for what you get,the layout is nice and it can be a pleasure to play. New clientele have no golf etiguette or respect the game.
