Great
For me I don't know if there is a better valued course for the cost in the Area. On weekdays it's never too crowded, it's properly maintained. And laid back.
this course is short and fun. on the pro side . . . fairways are always in great shape, greens are a bit slow. free food and beer if youre in the loyalty club (membership is free), usually let you play a second round for freen if its not busy, course drains really well after the rain, lots of birdie/par opps for average players here. on the con side . . . can get get buggy in the late Spring, when it gets backed up it really gets backed up. all greenside bunkers were redone in may/june 2011.
Penderbrook isn't really as bad as the other reviews have made it out to be. I have seen MUCH worse as far as staff and playing conditions at nearby courses in Northern Virginia at about double the greensfees. That's not to say that I don't have my complaints. A major downfall is that there are WAY too many houses that come into play here, and the course is quite gimmicky. It is obvious that they chopped up the course to build the houses and kind of threw it back together (I heard this took place in the late 80's). With that said, there are a few great holes here that werent affected by the development, and in my opinion make the course worthwhile (10, 14, 15 to name a few). I just wish I had a chance to play here before it was changed. My favorite thing about Penderbrook, though, is if you sign up for a free players pass thing, you get 2 free beers with every round of golf. So overall, I give it a solid 3 stars for just being a course to come as you are and have fun.
The staff is the worst I have ever seen. The owners of this golf course should clean house.I will never come within ten miles of Penderbrook.
Not in good shape most of the time. No marshall in the course, resulting in slow play. OK course for me.
This place is a crapper.... it's poorly kept and virtually no money is put into it. Not to mention the staff is a bunch of children all under 25 including the general manager and tournament director. They are lazy and rude and act like customers are not worth their while. Personally I think the place should be gutted in every sense and start fresh. The course itself has a challenging layout so it is a shame to see it so poorly managed. Unfortunately because none of the staff want to take initiative and marshall to keep the pace of play and avoid long backups, a round that normally takes 3-4 hours takes 6 hours to finish. Golfing here is pretty similar to Chinese water torture. I know I will never come back I rather spend double the money and go elsewhere and actually enjoy my round of golf!
