Very picturesque golf course. Ive played quite a few rounds there. Played my Dad, iwon that day which seemed not to happen to often. In august I shot an astounding 79 the calendar year 2007. A very undulating course with some challenging holes that will test your golfing medal. I love the par 5 2nd and the par 5 18th. Im 45 now and im hoping I can fit in a round today. Then escape the rain. The staff is nice and the food is good. With also a choice of fine tournaments to play if you want to. Brian Stack
I just played their and it was a nice,I would say the course is player friendly to play meaning u shouldn't loose u golf ball to often its pretty open .. in short I will play this course again for shore
I maybe play this course once or twice a year depending on my time and the condition of the course. It is a nice course when maintained has quite a few good holes. Holes 10-13 are the best set of holes on course. It can be a long course and difficult if playing from the blue tees. White tees makes it more playable for the average golfer. That is when the course is in good shape. I played the 1st week of october and even though the greens hadn't fully come back from the end of summer airaiding (sp)most of the greens were playable. But the rest of the course was not and by shape and condition of the tees, it wasn't maintained well at all and for a while. On this day, I usually would play 36 holes, but after paying for 18 holes on this course, this year, I could only choke down 18. Whoever maintains this course should not be maintaining a golf course because he/she does not know what they are doing. For a course to get in this bad a shape in a year is inexcusable. I do not see this course recovering in a year, say the least I will not be playing this course again for a while, and neither should you. Go play putt putt and you will have a better experience.
Played there today, read the previous reviews and was a little apprehensive. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a nice course with a friendly staff. The course was in a good shape with the exception of the 10th green. I will say by mid-July the fairways may be a little brown but today they were cut-well with minimal bare spots. Plenty of water on this hot, hot day. The only negative was the slow foursome in front of us. It was somewhat crowded so be prepared to wait some. Got a great rate on discount golf site, decided to try it and I am glad we did.
For a fairfax public course it is great! I started playing here this year around August and was pleasantly surprised at the long holes, wide fairways. I think the greens are the slowest greens in VA but really. It is a nice course to play. I am excited to play here!
Recently played the course and was pleasantly surprised. Course was in very good shape! I would recommend this course and will play again. It may be a bit overpriced but if you can find a discount then highly recommended.
First of all this was a huge mistake to play, over priced for the poor conditions. Staff was rude, especially one fellow on the maintenance staff! I agree with the bellow comments if it is the same fellow, he needs to be reprimanded. His attitude is not what I expected when he was in the wrong. Now I will say there where five holes on this course that had a much better appearance than the rest, a few greens where is less than bellow avererage conditions. I will keep playing Pohick Bay and the Osprey. In my mind this course needs a lot of work with a new staff to manage it.
The course is in very poor shape, the greens are very bumpy and 8 and 13 should have hazard stakes on them. the tee boxes are horrible, go luck finding a flat area with grass to tee off. Sand traps are BAD, cart paths are like a off road course. The clubhouse pine tree with 2x4's helping a fallen tree stand up looks great! HA, really there are other courses that have better prices and much better playing factor! I give the superintendent a F along with who ever the manager is also. Please take note and play else where!!!!!
This has to be the worst course EVER! First off the crew does not look like they are professional and there is a old guy on the crew is very RUDE! From what i gathered he is the father of the assistant manager, typical county government. I was trying to put and the old guy drover fast buy my ground with a loud cart that backfires, when I said something to him he barked at me and said take it up with the management! The reason I put the difficulty high was your are hitting off dirt and rocks, number 8 and 13 green are very bumpy and plugs from bad areas where not level. Tee boxes where not level and the placement of tee markers are like hitting off craters on the moon. As I am playing I noticed what appears to be the superintendent ridding the course with his dog and the dog pooped by a tee box and was never cleaned up. His cart looks like it should be on hoarders, plus there is a storage pill of trash next to 10 fairway. All in all DO NOT PLAY HERE, waste of money and sure of waste of tax payers money. County should be ashamed! And for the old guy who is there working because of family, he needs to learn manners and should be FIRED!
Waste of time and money. The greens were unplayable more than a week after aeration: unfilled punch holes, crabgrass, and bare patches made them worse than a temp green. No discount was offered only a sign indicating they were punched recently. I was told, "they are not too bad." Also the tee boxes were nearly bare on many holes.
