Played this course yesterday and found it in terrible shape. Tee boxes and greens are all chewed up. A few years ago, this course was recommended by a local radio commentator. He should visit it now.
My least favorite course in the area. I avoid it like the plague. Not one nice thing to say about this course so I will just keep it at that.
I feel sorry for somebody that may not play here based on some of the negative reviews because Skippack is an extremely nice course to play. The front nine, as many have stated is fairly wide open, but the back is tight with many unique, interesting, and fun holes to play. So many uphill, downhill holes surrounded by woods with water coming into play on more than a few holes. Really a beautiful and challenging back with exceptional scenery and great layout. The course is maintained well with the exception of the rough which was higher than is should have been. That truly probably is Skippack's only drawback, oh and that's it's somewhat confusing finding your next tee box due to poor course direction. The greens played to an average speed, were nice, and played very fair. The value of $18 to walk weekday twilight (maybe spring rates) is a flat out steal considering what I normally pay in New Jersey for courses of far lesser quality. The course also plays a lot longer than stated due to the frequent uphill holes which is the reverse from about 90% of the other courses I have played, so don't let the yardage fool you into thinking this is a short course. They have logo balls for the collector like myself; another plus. Fun, challenging, unique holes, scenic, cheap, decently maintained, and logo balls.....can't ask for much more. Only the minor drawbacks and the less exciting front 9 bring the value of the course down minimally. Overall rating A-.
