i disagree with the previous comment regarding poor maintenance. of course, like any other golf course in the mid atlantic region, maintenance gets tough during the summer and during times of drought, but i've been playing quail valley for about 7 years, and every time i've been there the course is in good shape... especially the greens.if you want faster greens, it seems that at any given time quail has generally faster and truer greens than many courses in the area. in addition to fast they are also on the harder side usually, which makes things difficult. despite the difficulty however, the course is fair (not many "target" shots or forced carries). i think the difficulty gives the course much of its character. it is for this reason that i recommend playing from the 'blue' set of tees unless you're a senior, junior, lady, or beginner. you get to see a bit more of the course from the blues and the white tees are pretty short as they often move them forward on weekends. if you are a 12 or lower handicap, try playing the tips. often times the course plays shorter than the yardage because you get a lot of long rolls from the fairways.overall- a GREAT value for a challenging, scenic golf course with consistent maintenance.
