The management of this golf course is not what it used to be. The tee boxes have a lot of bare spots with no grass, the sand traps do not drain leaving a foot or two of water in them days after a rain event, and the management of players on the course is terrible. Played here on a Sunday, took me almost 3 hours to finish my first 9, and when asked for a refund of my second nine was told that I was still on pace for a 5 hour round. Will not be playing this course again.
This golf course has made a complete 180 in the past year. I really enjoy this course and I am very glad that they have made the necessary improvements. The staff this year is friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend the course.
This was our first time playing this course and we were impressed. We came from out of state and did their "stay and play" package. They were very accommodating for our tee times and always asking if we needed anything so that was nice. The course was in great shape for early May. You can tell one or two greens had been bad but are coming along nicely. Great range and paved cart paths topped it off. I will be back!
Wow, what an improvement from last year. Heard that the course was much better, didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Keep it going!
This course cannot get things together. Poor service in the Pro Shop.. everyone standing around talking, ignoring the customers. Same situation in the restaurant/bar area. My party looked for the superintendent of the course, and no one could locate him.. on a Tuesday? the course itself seemed to be in average shape, should have been much better, due to the wonderful weather mother nature has given us so far this spring. These people are a joke, they aren't even paying their real estate taxes.. close the doors, call it a night. They will never get this course back to the way it was.. it's an old joke, and it's not funny anymore.. check it out for yourself: http://www2.county.allegheny.pa.us/RealEstate/Tax.aspx?ParcelID=2011E00085124800%20%20%20%20&SearchType=2&CurrRow=0&SearchName=&SearchStreet=Nicklaus&SearchNum=1248&SearchMuni=&SearchParcel=&pin=2011E00085124800
Pittsburgh National used to be my favorite course (when it was called Deer Run), but apparently there were some issues and the course condition deteriorated. However, I just played there recently, and the course is definitely improving...the greens are in decent condition and the fairways are much better than the last time I played there (I believe the course is under new ownership). I also had lunch after my round, and the food and service were both very good. I hope the positive trend continues with the new management and I look forward to playing there next season.
