One of the most challenging of the Queens courses. It will test your game especially if you don't play every week. Bring extra balls too! And Frank in the club house is my guy!
Interesting course.Played Forest Park on a sunny Friday afternoon. The course is a par 70 layout that is not very long at just over 6,000 yards from the back tees. There are quite a few ups and downs and dips and valleys that are in play. Some of the greens have multiple tiers that make putting quite interesting. The par 5s (there are three of them on the course ) measure under 500 yards from the back tees except for one which is 510 yards but from an elevated tee, so they are all reachable in two for moderate to long hitters. The greens were in decent shape. Some tee boxes were barren however. Many of the holes are side by side and back and forth, so bring a hardhat - slicers and hookers are constantly in other fairways. Some of the holes border the jam packed Jackie Robinson Parkway, so it can get quite loud in spots with honking and road noise. The price was only $31 to walk the course today. There are deals on the GolfNYC website - with a coupon from the website, you can ride for only $4 more. The pace of play today was okay - it took us just under 4 1/2 hours to complete the round. In summary, a decent NYC muni course. Definitely worth the money if you can get a deal.
Was visiting New York City and played this course on 9/4/10 had 8:40 tee time, took around 5 hours only because there was some group that normally plays there and spent alot of time looking for lost balls. First time I have ever in the 2 years I have been playing came in at 100 on a course that I have never played before. It had it challenges over revines, across water and some hidden greens behind trees.
Nice course which gives a challenge for mid- to high- handicappers. Plays to just over 6,000yds and the scenery is quite good. Only downside is the long walk from hole 15 to 16 (if you are walking) - it will take you at least 5 minutes from 15th green to 16th tee and by the time you get there you will be all tired out you can't tee off!
