Pace was way too slow. Took almost 6 hours to finish our round. The place is in nice condition though and the staff was great, despite the delay.
Nice, solid golf course. My wife and I played Silver Lake on an unseasonably chilly and rainy early October Sunday. Silver Lake is a par 70 layout (for men - par 72 for women) in Silver Lake Park on Staten Island. The course has three tees, black, blue and silver. The black tees measure about 6,200 yards, the blues measure about 5,700 and the silvers measure about 5,400 yards. The course is hilly and contains a minimal amount of water in the form of streams and ponds to deal with. The greens were in good shape. Some of them are multi-tiered, which makes putting a challenge if your approach shot is not close to the pin. The course overall was in good shape despite the light rainy weather. Due to the chill and rain, there were not many golfers on the course, so my wife and I were able to play in about 3 1/2 hours. There is a bar/restaurant that serves some simple food and beverages. There are quite a few TVs which came in handy on this NFL Sunday. We paid about $43 for a weekend round with cart for an early afternoon tee off. There are specials on their website, however their website tee time reservation system does not work very well, so your reservation request might not go through.Staten Island has three really good public courses and this is one of them. A recommended course if you are in the area.
Friendly staff, great military price, well maintained. could use a few more water jugs out there or a second beverage cart.
