Brand New Carts, beautiful setting, fun course to play. My group was a mix of high and low handicaps and the course was playable for everyone. The greens are in awesome shape as well as the fairways. The Club House staff were attentive and we had a great time having drinks after our round. Food is good too!
I have to agree with MJames. This course was beyond a disappointment. When I first drove here, I passed the clubhouse/pro shop because it looked like someone's small farm house. The employees inside were not the friendliest. The course was in terrible condition. In fact, several of the tee boxes had grass longer than the rough. Despite all that, the course is fairly easy to play. Straight fairways and short par 4's. Overall, I'd much much rather play at Newman in downtown Ithaca as it costs less and has much better conditions.
Do not waste your time or $ here. Course is pathetic and the woman (mary?) was the most ignorant person I have ever dealt with in my life. Please save yourself and DO NOT GO HERE!
A decent, not very difficult, reasonably priced round of golf.My wife and I played Hillendale on a July Saturday morning. Our round was interrupted by a series of severe thunderstorms after just 5 holes. Upstate New York has been going through a severe dry spell, and the course prior to the storm was a bit barren and hard. This was good if you were hitting your drives straight (which for some strange reason, my wife and I were doing!), as the roll was fantastic. We came back in the afternoon after the storm passed and the course drained and finished up the remaining 13 holes. The course softened up a bit after the storm. Course management was flexible and let us come back in the afternoon despite a rain check policy that basically said no refunds if 3 or more holes were played. The course features mainly straight on, straightforward holes. Holes 5 through 9 though are quite different. These holes feature peaks and valleys and are more difficult that the other holes. Hole number 9 in particular was my favorite hole on the course - it features an elevated tee through a narrow opening guarded by large trees on both sides, over a lake to a fairway, where your second shot is uphill to an elevated green. The price was very reasonable - we paid $33 with cart for a weekend round of golf. The course has some food inside - the turkey club sandwich was very good. The course staff was very friendly and accommodating. In summary, a decent, reasonably priced course.
