hilly, but you can find fairly level landing spots. Pretty difficult but manageable, play conservatively. don't take a lot of high risk shots but don't dial it back all the way. There are opportunities to hit the long ball. Drumlins rolling type hills. lot of uneven lies just don't try to kill it when it just ain't there.
Green Lakes State Park Golf Course, where you'll come for the good golf and stay for the amazing views. This popular state-owned and operated course is located in Central New York in the charming village of Fayetteville. The golf course here is good, very good, but it might be Mother Nature who steals the show.Nestled inside the state park of the same name, Green Lakes offers golfers a challenging round on a well-manicured course. The course was built in the 1930s by legendary golf architect Robert Trent Jones and has developed into a real gem. Mature trees border each hole but the highlight is mostly definitely the two emerald-green glacial lakes which are visible from many holes on the course. Sit on the clubhouse patio with a drink after your round for the best views of the lakes. The course itself is challenging mostly because of the varying elevations. Hit a great tee shot and still have a tough second shot because of the undulating fairways that will test your golf stance. In a battle of golfer versus golf course, it's a fair fight as the course is in excellent condition and ready to challenge you at every turn. The huge rolling greens pack their own punch with unpredictable breaks and turns. They are in excellent condition so it makes reading the line an especially fun challenge. The par-71 course is just over 6,212 yards but the hills will make you will feel you have walked twice that if you choose to pass on a cart. No hole is over 500 yards on the rye-grass course where precision takes precedent over brawn. Two of the three par-5 holes are found on the front nine, as well as three of the five par-3 holes. Each hole takes you on a new adventure, different from the hole before it. There aren't any water hazards on the course but many deep bunkers come into play.Green Lakes is also the home to a popular restaurant/bar located in the clubhouse. The food is good and the company great on most evenings.Since Green Lakes is a state-owned course, the rates are very reasonable. Golf 18 holes with a cart for under $35 at certain times of the year and just slightly more during the peak summer months.Tee times should be booked a week in advance. This course is a fantastic value – you will be glad you made the call.
If you are in the area, play it - you won't be disappointed.
