Best course in Bergen County. Friendly helpful staff. The pace of play was great, not too crowded. Course was in great shape. Great experience.
Great course! Not overcrowded. Friendly staff. Great experience.
Best town owned course in the area, clubhouse being renovated, course is in great condition for being a town owned/run course. Great value for residents.
Yes its expensive - $105 to play on a weekend in prime time, course was tough for me but I'm still really new. Very scenic, some great uphill / downhill holes. Most of the people that worked there were very nice but there was one crabby old ranger that kept telling us to hurry up but all the holes in front of us were backed up too so we had nowhere to go. Saw him go completely ballistic on a grandpa for driving the cart on a par 3 which is a no-no but he could have just been nice about it like i saw the other ranger doing.UPDATE - just played this for a second time and the experience was much better, pace of play wasn't bad at all - we weren't backed up much at all and were never hassled by the rangers like last time.
Here's the current policy from River Vale of golf course management. Charge a regular green fee as if it were August, charge the same whether you walk or ride, then don't put on your web site that the front 9 is being aerated so you have to play the back 9 twice. And don't give them a choice if they just want to play 9 holes. Then have a snippy attitude about it in the pro shop. However, the ranger and the starter seemed like nice guys which surprised me. Not a bad course in itself but sneaky management.
