Typically I don't write negative reviews because I understand the difference in levels of courses being played. I don't expect greens to be in excellent conditions at municipal courses like I would at country clubs. Overall the course for Meadowlands wasn't bad. But it was hard to play without being frustrated due to spending nearly five minutes on every hole looking for my ball. Luckily today was a slow day and it didn't matter. Greens and fairways were in good condition especially after getting a lot of rain recently. But the reason I had to constantly send a search party out for the ball was due to the leaves. There were piles of leaves on the fairway without a tree within 150 yards. Off the fairway, it was pointless to look for your ball due to the leaves. That includes right off the fairway. I lost more balls on this outing than I have in a long time. The sad thing is that it wasn't as a result of hitting into the woods or water. The staff and course were great and they would've received five stars if not for the leaves. They were literally that bad. Please staff if you read these reviews, get the leaves cleaned up. If you can't, call in a company to do it at a minimum on the greens, fairways, and right off the fairways. I understand it's that time of the year and you can't control them falling, but you can do a cleanup. Based on the level, it hasn't been done for several weeks if you do. My suggestion would be once or twice a week at a minimum.
This course is a GEM! Expected to pay 2 or 3 times more for a course designed by a PGA pro and as fancy as this course, but it was very reasonable fee and a very fair test of skill for an average golfer like me. Staff was very friendly, course well maintained, and everything was first class. If you come to W-S this should be on your "must play" list. You will enjoy it!
