Tried to play 18 with an early morning tee time. After nine holes, we were basically asked to stop playing so that a large group/outing could begin play on the back nine on a shot gun start. Never been treated so poorly. Staff members were rude and could have cared less. They've lost my business as well as a number of others based on the treatment we received that day. Will never set foot on that course again. There are far better options in the area than this place
Our group played Hyland Golf Club on May 14, 2013. We had been told that it was in good condition and I called the Pro Shop and the woman working there told me "the course is in great shape". I asked her about the greens and she said "they are fantastic. The best in Wake County". They weren't ! In fact, the entire course was in average condition for mid-May in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The driving range is marginal and one cannot hit a driver or 3 wood because of it's lack of length. The practice putting green was in better condition than the greens on the course and very nice. Overall the course was "average". The tee boxes were is pretty good condition, the bunkers average and at least 6 of the greens had bald spots or compacted dirt in large areas. They were fast, if you could find enough grass, but overall, a real disappointment. This course is definitely NOT worth driving from the Raleigh area to play and there are several courses that offer a much better value in the Sandhills area of North Carolina.Perhaps after another year of growth and maintenance, this course might be worth playing.
Had not played this course in a few years because it had fallen into poor conditions, however the newly renovated greens (which were perfect) and other course improvements made this a favorite of my 12 person group
