I said I would not play The Crescent about 5 years ago but then signed up to play a charity event 2 years ago without looking at the course being played. I was totally happy with the turnaround the course had made and now play there regularly. Friendly new owners that are working hard to bring the place back and succeeding.
Played the course on July 28th and was disappointed. At first appearance the club house, neighborhood, and course look great. Then you start playing. Lots of dead tee boxes, dead fairways, poorly maintained/dead greens, and no bunker on the course is playable. Bunkers where all full of water, red clay, and rocks. No sand! If you do play keep your ball if the fairway. Course was not mowed well. You could loss a ball in the fairway. If you hit it in the rough don't bother looking! Could be a great course if they would put some money and care into it. The course conditions made for a frustrating day of golf!
Overall good experience. Some of the shaded tees were very, very wet. Greens were in good shape. I especially liked that the bunkers were well maintained, unlike many other local clubs. Clubhouse staff was helpful and friendly.
Terrible experience. Played in 3:45, yet had group, including head club pro, behind us hitting into us and "yelling" at us throughout the round. Given condition of the course (poor, unless you're a BIG fan of clover), you'd think they'd be appreciative of guests. Obviously, not. Horrible experience overall, will never go back and encourage others to spare yourself the aggravation. Much more enjoyable courses nearby, with a staff that actually appreciates customers.
