As a life long golfer and annual visitor from out of town, I found this course to be very ordinary. There are too many other superior golf courses in the area with much better attractions near the course. This course is in the middle of absolutely nowhere and the visually appealing aesthetics that a golf course should possess is just not here. Also, if you are not from around here, you will be treated as such at this course. If you want to enjoy a good day of golf- do not come here. I recommend courses in Sneads Ferry, New Bern, Hampstead, Swansboro and Wilmington.
My first visit to Bear Trail. First week of December and temps in the low 70's. Fairways and rough were low but in very good shape. Greens in excellent shape (for any time of year) but fast. Will be back.
Fairways were well kept, rough was cut very short and you will be in trouble with trees right and left. The greens need some work, they were extra hard airaited and over sanded. Good course for the money.
Played April, 2011 course was in great shape, tee boxes were above average as were the greens (which were very fast). Staff was extremely friendly. A great value for the price and a fun course, not your average NC course of straight, flat fairways.
