Consistently is the best public course in the Charlotte area. The layout is fun to play, and is almost always in great condition. Staff is really friendly, and compared to lots of courses in town that have really let the condition go downhill, Rocky River has done a good job keeping it nice. No houses around the course is really peaceful, and the wetlands on the back 9 are my favorite feature. Overall, the best public offering in town.

One of my favorite courses in the Charlotte area. I haven't played it since last year and yes, last year's condtions were rough due to the extreme heat. RRGC is playable for high handicappers and challenging for low handicappers. The architect, Dan Maples, also designed the popular Witch GC in Myrtle Beach; courses have similar characteristics. Also, considering its proximity to the racing industry, the drag strip off the 2nd tee and the sound of cars on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway are charming.

Playing Rocky River was a very fun experience for me. Though not appearing to be in the best condition, Rocky River was surprisingly playable. The Pace of play was great. And the greens, though a little on the slow side rolled very true.
Play here if you want a quick, fun round.

For a public course, this place is kept in excellent condition. I am also impressed by the nature beauty of the course. I have seen cranes, deer, and a beaver along the course in the few times I've played there. Unfortunately the city allowed a huge drag race complex to be built right next to the clubhouse, which is a huge eyesore and detracts from the natural setting. Also the city or county put through a new sewer line that left some big scars on the landscape in the wetlands areas - a private entity would never be allow to get away with that. Anyway, I find this course to be quite challenging and have always enjoyed playing there - so 4 stars!
