played this course on the 4th of July at 740 am. Fantastic rate $37, walking. Not a tough walk at all, only a few hilly holes. The condition of the course was excellent. The tee boxes on some holes need some work. A bunch were riddles with divots and most werent cut short enough. They need some help in placing the tee markers more than 8 feet apart on the tee boxes. The greens were awesome. Fast and true. The rough was fierce. It would penalize you if you missed by a little bit. It would have been helpful to have a course layout ahead of time or pictures of the holes on the signs. There was just the hole # and par. We didnt know which way to go half the time. The layout was kinda quirky too. 7 par threes is just too many to have on a regulation course. Not the longest course at 6000 yrds but your scores could go either way. You would also have to walk by tee boxes in front of people teeing off which was unsafe and bothersome. It just seems they should have thought about the placement or numbering of some holes better. Although it didnt take away from the golf course too much. The biggest flaw is that the course doesnt put out drinking water! The course has very little shaded areas and the guy at the bar said it was a liability to have it out there. I would think a bigger liability would be people passing out from heat exhaustion. They did have a beverage cart though. The staff was friendly and treated us well although Rangers were not present when my twosome got stuck behind a slow foursome who wasnt letting us through. Overall good experience. i would come back cause the conditions were great and the price was right.
I must say that I was apprehensive, to say the least, when I went to Merrimack, based on the previous submitter. I am part of a 16 friend group that plays a different course every week and one of the guys suggested that we play Merrimack, because he loved it there. After reading the previous reviewer's comments, I was totally supprised at the wonderful way in which we were treated by the staff. So accomodating, and friendly. The views were spectacular and the course was just finished 2 years ago. The greens were so true and beautiful. We also finished our round in 4 hours and then had a delicious lunch, 10 ounce Burgers and Fries for $7.50. I would recommend this course to everyone. We will be coming back!!!
This course is really nice. Unfortunately the staff is quite the opposite. I was rushed along thru the whole course by a number of "Pros" specifically because my group was not getting less than par on each hole consecutively. The bar, which claimed to make sandwiches, takes about 40 minutes to prepare a chicken sandwich, and the greens keepers will not stop watering the grass on the green even if you are putting.Basically, unless you make 6 or 7 digits annually and are above the age of 30 they won't treat you with respect (because they want all your money) and if you're trying to play golf recreationally with a few friends, go somewhere else, because this place is run like a factory not a good golf course.
