The course was nice and the course master was great. The Atmosphere was casual, except it was a little crowded around our Tee Time and the group behind us were a little advanced and larger so it made for a rushed approach to the game, but times we were able to take our time and enjoy the course we had a Great time and would come again.
Good course overall. The greens were in pretty rough shape and the bunkers had not been raked by the maintenance staff in the morning so they were like concrete. However, the scenery is great and I will definitely play it again. I just hope the greens and bunkers are better next time!
We drove from NW IN to play & my expectations of The Fort were quite high and most of these expectations were realized. The design was fabulous, the staff was sincere, and everything else was great except for the condition of the course. The fairways had an over abundance of divots and the greens had so many pich marks that were not repaired that it was a travesty. I loved the Layout on this property and I will definitely be back at least 1 more time. Hopefully, they'll repair the fairway & green problem before I return. There's a of great courses in the INDY area and we come here for at least 6-8 rounds each season.
This is a beautiful course. I grew up playing golf on the original 18 hole course and Pete Dye's refinements are top notch. From tee to green the course is in beautiful condition, the greens however are another story. For the price, I shouldn't be putting on mud on all but 3 or 4 greens. I do not know whats wrong, but the greens are horrible. There's plenty of courses in town with much lower green fees, and 10x better greeens. I would rate this course as the top 3 public in the area, but for the greens.
wow... best public course in the indianapolis area... that includes trophy club, purgatory, prairie view, and bearslide... several extremely scenic holes, a nice practice facility, great conditioning, and a variety of risk-reward holes make this a must play in indiana!!
