The course is in absolutely the best shape of any course in North Alabama. They do have tournaments scheduled often, so check in advance for tee times.
I'm not certain what type of drugs the previous bad reviewers were taken while playing the course or it is a competitor trying to get people not to play the course, but I felt Canebrake Club Golf course was one of the best in North Alabama. It is a stunning course with a great layout and with plenty of challenges. The golf staff were helpful and the food was fantastic. Sunday buffet was outstanding. The course was in great shape and the greens were top notch. Loved the course and the people.
The instant you drive through the front gates you realize you've arrived somewhere very unique and special. In my opinion, Canebrake is far and away the PREMIER golf club in North Alabama...the sprawling layout is both beautiful and challenging. From the outstanding hospitality in the clubhouse to the superb practice facilities...it has a world class feel before you hit the first tee. The golf course itself is in superb condition, tee to green, and one of the most naturally stunning tracks of land in the region. Designer Ron Garl did an great job of routing the holes while leaving the properties natural topography in place. I think most will find Canebrake an absolute pleasure to play...and overall just a wonderful atmosphere. The club is also under new management, and they have made it their sole goal to establish the ultimate Golf Club experience for Canebrake's membership and guests...they leave no doubt as to why so many North Alabama residents have chosen to "live.Play.Belong".
What a rip off!!!!!! After the round me and my buddy just felt ripped off.Course is in "terrible" shape, layout is good if they would do something with the course like take care of your greens and fix your sandtraps and get a marshall out there so the idiots that live here will not think they own the place.
Its just sad how bad this place has got.
Dont waste time or money.
Me and a couple of my buddys were in athens area and stopped by to give this course a try. After reading the reviews I thought this course couldnt be that bad so we tried it I cant beleive I wasted $85 dollars on this place. The course is garbage and not worth $85 dollars. The people that play here are just wanna be richie rich type people that are so above and beyond everybody and its funny I live in the Ledges and we have bigger houses and alot more money than the people that live here. The smallest house in my community is bigger than the biggest house at canebrake. Our membership at the ledges is $25,000 to canebrakes $5,000. Point is these people want to be somebody they are not and are just scums ,we treat people with respect at the ledges and anybody that plays the game of golf should always be a gentleman no matter what course u are on. Dont waste time or money at this course. You will have a better time at the driving range
